Ganga Devi, goddess of the Ganges River, rides on her mythical sea creature, the makara. She holds one of her right hands in a gesture indicating she will bestow her blessings and grant our wishes, and holds a conch shell in the other. Her left hands holds a Chakra (discus) and a waterpot. The sage Bhagiratha, whose austerities brought the Ganges River to earth, leads her towards the ocean.
